NovaCustom

Novacustom sent me a laptop with a non-functioning webcam. I sent it back for a refund upon discovery of the defect three days after receiving it, which is in line with their policies, which is supposedly a "no questions asked" return if made withing 14 days. I was made to pay $400 to return the defective machine, despite it being broken when I received it. Once they received the laptop, they refused to give me a full refund since the webcam didn't work. tldr; Novacustom sent defective merchandise and refused to refund my money even though I returned the machine well within the return window.

I had a bad experience buying a laptop from Lenovo, where I had to return it (which was a very difficult and long process). So buying from a company which actually cares about normal customers (not companies) was a big relief. I am very happy with the customization choices, the ordering process, the communication and to know that there is also put critical consideration into which suppliers are being used. Love my new laptop and have already recommended Novacustom to everybody in my local community.

Not many QubesOS Certified machines available and NovaCustom offers one of the most powerful modern certified laptops around.

Meine Erfahrung von der Bestellung bis zur Lieferung waren mehr als gut zu bewerten. Eine kleinere Änderung wurde direkt übernommen, nachdem ich vergessen hatte meine Tastatur mit der der Super Taste fest zu legen. Ein super toller Service und vielen Dank nochmals. Ich bin ein absoluter Anfänger in Sachen Linux. Die Verarbeitung und Haptik ist einfach nur hervorragend. Vielen Dank für das mega tolle Notebook.

De laatste ervaring; Eerst nog even gebeld met de helpdesk (echt mens!) voor wat extra advies. Via duidelijk keuzemenu de juiste laptop gekozen. De afleverdag kon ik aanpassen aan mijn wens. Optijd ontvangen, zat goed ingepakt, uitgepakt. Via meegeleverd instructieblad probleemloos geinstalleerd (Linux Mint). Alle gegevens van vorige laptop (ook Linux Mint) overgezet en tot op heden probleemloos kunnen werken/hobbyen. Je moet wel een beetje weten wat alle onderdelen inhouden, maar bij twijfel kun je dus gewoon advies vragen.

Built my dream laptop on nova custom, everything runs flawless, its silent yet performs great. It also look great, nothing flashy, but sleek. Lion in sheeps skin in my opinion

Der Laptop macht was er soll. Funktioniert bisher tadellos. Wir haben nun bereits ein zweites Betriebssystem installiert, er läuft noch immer ^^ Kleiner, robuster Laptop den ich gut ins Büro mitnehmen kann.

Šis ir mans pirmais dators, kuram nav draiveru problēmu ar linuxi un pat notestējot ar Windows 11 (visi nepieciešamie draiveri automātiski uzinstalējās līdz ar Windows Update, nebija nepieciešams manuāli kaut ko instalēt). Visas nepieciešamās funkcijas un klaviatūras "shortcuti" vienkārši strādā - palielināt vai samazināt ekrāna spilgtumu, skaņu, izslēgt "touchpad". Kā arī ir divi ļoti noderīgi klaviatūras "shortcuti", kur es varu pilnībā izslēgt ekrāna "backlight" un ieslēgt dzesēšanas fēnus uz maksimumu. Ļoti novērtēju, ka šim portatīvajam nav nekādu problēmu ar miega režīmu, aizveru vāku ciet un šis aiziet miega režīmā. Varu droši izraut un iespraust lādētāju neizraisot kernel crash, kā tas man bija ar iepriekšējo laptopu. Pašreiz gan esmu novērojis problēmu, kur šis dažkārt iestrēgst firmware boot ekrānā un visi mani firmware iestatījumi tiek noslaucīti pēc piespiedu izslēgšanas, bet dasharo-issues github lapā redzu ka šī problēma tiks atrisināta nākošajā lielajā firmware atjauninājumā. Klaviatūra ir tīri ērta, ļoti novērtēju klaviatūras apgaismojumu un ka varu ar klaviatūras "shortcutu" kontrolēt klaviatūras apgaismojumu un arī izslēgt apgaismojumu. Skārienpaliktnis ir pietiekami liels, maniem pirkstiem šim ir pietiekami vieta (izmērs aptuveni "touchpad" ir ~120mm x 85mm). Jauda šim portatīvajam ir (nopirku Intel Core Ultra 155H) un ar dzesēšanu šis tiek labi galā (divi iebūvēti fēni), pārsvarā atstāju šo uz silent fēnu režīmu. Palaižot kādu spēli (Portal 2 uz 43" 4K ekrāna) šis paliek nedaudz skaļāks, bet tā šis turās pie 65-70C. RAM uzlaboju pats uz 96GB, bet ļoti iespējams ka var šo uzlabot līdz 128GB. Man gan ir jāpiemin, ka šim portatīvajam nav nekādu info lampiņu, ka būtu ieslēgts CapsLock un priekš NumLock un dažkārt nejauši sāku rakstīt ar lielajiem burtiem, bet šo var atrisināt ar ārējo klaviatūru, kurai ir šīs te LED lampiņas. Neskatoties uz sīkām problēmam, kuras tiks atrisinātas ar atjauninājumiem, šis ir ļoti labs portatīvais. Iesaku 10/10

Easy to order and impressive order to delivery times

The laptop is well made and extremely customizable with very good documentation the NovaCustom suppport was very helpful and answered all the questions I had about customization and configuration

I was choosing between nitrokey, purism, star labs, and nova. I ended up going with nova because I liked their UX the best and I wanted HEADS instead of edk2, and also I like the Netherlands privacy laws better than Germany. Their website made it clear which options are qubes compatible more easily than Nitro. Turnaround time on the order was great, everything works with my laptop and its quiet and cool despite running programming IDEs. I did screw up the HEADS install (myself,) because I didn't read their instructions correctly. They have 2 long pages of text which explains how to setup the laptop. Make sure you re-own the firmware INSTEAD of changing the admin LUKS password in the Qubes GUI. It's my fault for reading the docs wrong, and it's easily fixed but just heads (hah) up to anyone in the same situation make sure you read their docs carefully. Laptop is great. Exactly what I expect. I did need to do a screen tearing vsync fix in Qubes, but that's a custom option required for any qubes laptop.

I've experienced hardware issues with other laptops when running Linux, so finding a company like NovaCustom was a game changer. Being able to order a custom laptop that's optimized specifically for Linux—and have it pre-installed—saved me the usual hassle of disabling secure boot, configuring boot sequences, and dealing with compatibility headaches. The communication with NovaCustom was excellent from the start. They were helpful, responsive, and clearly knowledgeable about Linux. My new laptop has now been running as my daily driver for a week without any issues at all. It's been smooth, stable, and just works out of the box—exactly what I was looking for.
