Why work with a shipping company that is known for loosing parcels

I am so disappointed in this company. It’s my partners birthday coming up and I was so excited to order boards what we unfortunately can not get in South Africa. I placed my order and spent a fair amount on it thinking that I would be left in good hands. Meanwhile they are in partnership with PostNL that is known for loosing and stealing packages. I haven’t even gotten an update on my parcel in 7 days which means I will probably never get it and my money is just gone. I emailed them and I never received a reply to help me, as an international buyer, I feel completely helpless. Next time I will make sure to order from a place that cares about their customers and not cheap shipping so they can save money.

Dear, We are sorry for your troubles and for the delayed answer on your mail (we don't do customer service in the weekend unfortunately). In your country the parcel is being handled by the South African Post Office as the delivery company, not PostNL On the trackinginformation it also clearly states that it will be delivered between 27th of april and the 8th of may. It is now the 20th of april. Your parcel is still on it's way to you. We will ask PostNL if they can get an update on the status from the South African Post Office.
