Terrible experience with KwikFit Amsterdam Lemelerbergweg
I had an appointment for regular maintenance combined with an APK inspection (merkenbeurt met APK). When I was handing in the keys for my car, I told the guy at the reception that there's sometime an issue with turning on the headlights and asked him if they could check if everything is OK with the switch. At the time I didn't know this would be a reason to fail the APK. If I did, I would fix it first before paying for an APK inspection. He didn't say anything and took the keys without warning me that this would be a reason to fail the APK inspection.
A few hours later he called me and said that the car had failed the APK because of the headlight switch problem. He quoted about 300+ extra for fixing it plus trying to upsell motor cleaning. When confronted with why he didn't warn me before the potential APK failure due to the headlight switch he became aggressive and threatening. I never had such an experience in my life, a person working for a brand like KwikFit acting so unprofessional as if it's a random shop on the street. It's hard to believe that this shop has received the customer satisfaction award!
He tried to double charge me for an APK inspection and trying to upsell things I don't need and are not recommended by the OEM. I do not comment on the pricing for spare part, that's company policy but the same part plus labour costs are 35% cheaper elsewhere.
All in all, I would avoid KwikFit Amsterdam Lemelerbergweg. Unprofessional, unfriendly and even threatening. I work in marketing and such a treatment is a great example for bad customer service.
In all fairness, KwikFit call center has issued a voucher for a free APK with any other branch. Although this is a positive approach, it does not fix how I was treated as a customer.
