Excellent Product as always, UK import tax was an unpleasant surprise
First of all I must say Kristalonline are excellent, it is one of the few ways of getting discontinued swarovski and the 3 pieces of swarovski I received were excellent, as always....
However, I am resident in the UK and the 3 pieces in total came to £300 which is above the import duty threshold of £135, however 2 of the pieces were less than £135.
I fully accept that it is ultimately my fault for not realising the pieces would attract import duty, however, I would appreciate, and expect, that I should have been made aware of the possibility of having to pay import duty.
When I log into the site, it picks up I am resident in the UK, when I enter my address it knows I am in the UK.
We are not long out of the EU so we do remember the good old tax free days and we are still coming to terms with the fact we now have to pay import duty. As kristalonline are aware that I will have to pay import duty why can't they put a note on the order screen that import duties may be payable, it would certainly help us in the UK, coming to terms with the new procedures
Finally and this is a minor criticism, kristalonline could have split the order into 3 packages so the duty would only have had to be paid on the one item over £135 in value, whilst this may have incurred additional shipping charges it would have been less than the £90 import duty.
As mentioned before, I am a big fan of kristalonline and will continue to use them, I just wish they could help more with giving us an idea that import duty may need to be paid.
