The UPS delivery docket includes taxes of €19.16 ( which I presume is irish VAT) on top of a customs duty of €3.00. There is also a UPS handling fee of €22.94. I can provide a receipt if necessary. Your docket which was attached is for £69.02 and includes £21.50 for shipping and £11.50 VAT. As a result I have ended up paying €126 for a €55 gas strut. I find this particularly irritating because - as you will see from the email chain below, I specifically asked about additional charges and understood from your reply that they would be visible at the checkout. I am not sure what can be done at this stage but I would assume you can at least refund UK VAT. I might also suggest that you redirect customers from the Republic of Ireland to one of your sister sites in the EU. I was going to use one of them but understood from your email that additional charges would be visible at check out and given there were none I proceeded to make the purchase. Gas spring appears well made and of good quality. Website easy to navigate & order. Shipping was super fast. Price is what I would expect for a high quality spring. On the down side, the gas spring I received felt a little gritty in certain positions on movement Not sure if this could be a possibility of seal sticking/lubrication, possibility been on shelf a while. However it does feel a bit metallic in these positions & so feels like a much cheaper spring. Unfortunately due to the nature of gas springs I am unable to use lubricants.
