Exceptional experience - garden bar canopy.
I built a garden BBQ hut, and made a canopy top, which I wanted to hinge , so that it acted as a security screen at night. I have never worked with gas struts before,and after ordering some cheap sets from Amazon, and realising they were not ok, I found myself at the Gasspringshop. I noticed that there was a calculation tool, and was really impressed with the amount of choice and inputs available. I selected the hinges roof option, entered in the overall dimensions, and the material to ensure that the weight was correct, and then looked at the results. The results told me which spring and which ends to use, and really helpfully, where to put the ends for optimal performance. I ordered the suggested kit, based on this level of detail, making sure that I had taken a few screenshots of the calculations to ensure I could replicate them on my BBQ hut.
The products arrived within 1 day of ordering, which I wasn't really expecting. The components look robust, well constructed, the ends having a solid feel and durability about them. The product was more expensive than I was expecting, but after the failure of the Amazon units, I was hoping that I was buying quality, and this was reinforced not only by the website, with its calculator, but also now that I had the physical products. I makes out where the ends should be positioned, and as often happens in reality, realised that there would need to be some changes. This was mainly due to the shape and structure of my hut canopy, and nothing to do with the product. I retained the end eye for the strut, and removed the mount bracket, deciding to mount the eye directly on a through bolt, which would work with the hut canopy. After a few trial and error fits, I found a position where the struts closed the canopy with a small amount of effort, and opened it with minimal effort - along with that satisfying whoosh noise. I really can not believe how well they work. Excellent product and service.
