Because our youngest son was 16 we, as a present, let him choose a match where we as a family could go too. My oldest son was a fan of Barcelona, so for his 16th we spent a very enjoyable weekend in Barcelona. My youngest son is a fan of Real Madrid, so my wife and me were looking forward to a weekend in Madrid. Imagine my surprise when he said Liverpool. (As a life long Red fan, I, at least, was very happy).
At the same time that he made his decision, we got in the post a folder from Number 1 Voetbalreizen, (a sign from heaven??). Having checked their site me and my wife realised that we were dealing with a well put together company and all subsequent handlings after that only reinforced my first opinion that this was a very professional company run by very enthusiastic lovers of the game. The site is very easy to use, especially if you are as useless with computers as I am. What I liked about the site is that it was possible to book a complete trip, game, hotel, flight but also possible to book, as in my case, just the game and the hotel.
Of course you are not going just for a game, you also want to enjoy the sights and sounds of the city you are visiting, in this case Liverpool. Maybe it sounds a little bit of a cliche, but I would recommend before that you visit the local Tourist site to see what is on. One thing I did discover that it also pays, when you arrive in your country of destination, to go along to the nearset Tourist information office to make sure that the information on the site is current and up to date. (I visited the Merseytravel site to see what bus we needed to get us from the airport to the hotel; it turned out that this site was hopelessly out of date)
Also check what for weather you can expect, so that you dont pack for a summers day and the temperture, when you get there, is under 5 degrees.
All-in all, we had a very enjoyable weekend; the hotel was fantastic, all the personeel were extremely friendly; when we got to Anfield, the stewards were super friendly and helpful and, of course, Liverpool won
